one2 answered the call

One2, known to most from their dominant time in the early stages of ET:QW (both as One2 and Copenhagen e-Sports) and being unbeaten in BF2142 have taken another step.

After the sucess with rebuilding the ET:QW-team a decision was made that we were gonna switch scene, from ET:QW to the newly released Call of Duty 4. CoD4 have so far met our expectations and the future looks bright indeed. And as the ET:QW-scene just kept falling apart this seemed to be the correct move for us.

One2 CoD4 lineup
Joakim 'Numse' Åberg (Team Captain)
Martin 'dohfOs' Lundén
Tobias 'empee' Jansson
Simon 'Keno' Eriksson
Tobias 'Murre' Balenius
Anton 'saxs' Malmberg

empee and Keno are both new to the team since our move to CoD4, but since we know them from before I think they'll merge with the others just fine.

My ( dohfOs) comment about One2:
After junk52.etqw fell apart and my best mate Guru left for Thailand, One2 seemed like the best choice for me. And after playing for quite awhile together with the guys I knew I was here to stay and once Numse made up his mind about moving to Call of Duty 4 it was an easy decision for me. At the time being there is nothing left for me in ET:QW and even though I loved the gameplay of ET:QW, it lacked in so many other aspects I find it almost impossible to continue playing it until some kinda saviour arrives.

With One2.CoD4 we're aiming high. I think we got the potential to suprise the whole scene with some good results even though it's hard to say were we stand at the moment as we don't have a single former CoD2-player with us but it feels like we're in great shape and soon ready for some real action.

cod4, multiplayer info

so, there's some new info on the multiplayer-action in call of duty 4: modern warfare. it seems like the vehicles only will be used in singleplayer, which i, on a personal note think is good. cod4 will however remind you more of games such as enemy territory with captureable point on the map essential for taking advantage over your enemy.

this is a quote from pc gamer.

- In multiplayer, you get experience points for your persistent character stats. A kill gets you 2 points, a headshot gets you 3 and an assist (wound them but someone else kills them) 1. You'll unlock new ranks, skins for your character and new weapons. The system is implemented so they add can additional unlocks that come with patches.

- In both single and multiplayer there are hardpoints. Points on the map that give you a specific advantage over the enemy. An example that was given: A radio that calls in an airstrike, capture it and a helicopter will appear and attack the enemy with its rockets and machineguns.
After the attack the hard point goes neutral again.

- A new gametype, Realism-Mode. Grant Collier says the mod community had implemented this into the previous titles and now they'll add one themselves. In this realism mode you die from one shot.

- There will be vehicles in singleplayer, but not in multiplayer.

We ask Grant if you could drive vehicles in multiplayer. Grant Collier: ''No, we want to keep the maps small, so there will be always intense action. If we made maps bigger so they could include vehicles, they'd become less interesting for infantry combat, and that's what we want to focus on. In singleplayer however, you will get to use vehicles. There's one mission on which you get to be a gunner in a Cobra assault helicopter, and inflict some serious damage on the enemy below you. These kind of levels provide some welcome variety from the intense infantry missions.''

not really sure how much i like the thought of a computer controlled chopper comming to your aid in the middle of a fight. oh well, time will tell.

cod4, pressrelease

here's activisions pressrelease for call of duty 4: modern warfare. the whole thing sounds like a bf2142, et:qw thingy with futuristic stuff with some vehicles in it. but as always, vehicles and such will always be possible to turn off if the community so pleases. so i doubt that'll be an issue. what i'm more worried about is the fucked up hitboxes, angles and all the glitching that remained untouched in cod1. if that is sorted, cod4 could actually be a great game, if not then well.. time will tell i assume, but my guess is that i'm all into et:qw by the time cod4 hit the shelves. here goes..

INFINITY WARD DEPLOYS FOR NEW BATTLE WITH

CALL OF DUTY® 4: MODERN WARFARE™

Santa Monica, CA – May 25, 2007 – Grab your flashbangs and prepare to break cover for the most intense and cinematic Call of Duty® experience ever as Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) and Infinity Ward today confirmed development of Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™. The new action-thriller from the award-winning creators of the Call of Duty series will arm gamers with the most advanced and powerful arsenal of modern day firepower to fight a new war in the world’s most treacherous hotspots.

“Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the most intense, visceral title we’ve ever created,” says Jason West, co-studio head and project lead, Infinity Ward. “The single player campaign is a well-paced, non-stop action experience. As the story unfolds, the player is introduced to new gameplay at every turn – one moment you are fast-roping from your Blackhawk helicopter after storming into the war zone with an armada of choppers, the next you are a sniper, under concealment, in a Ghillie suit miles behind enemy lines, the next you are engaging hostiles from an AC-130 gunship thousands of feet above the battlefield – get ready for the fight of a lifetime.”

Mixed with explosive action, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also delivers amazing special effects, including use of depth of field, rim-lighting, character self-shadowing, real time post-processing, texture streaming as well as physics-enabled effects to enlist players into the most photo-realistic gaming experience. Combined with Call of Duty’s award-winning audio design, players will face war as never before.

In addition to single player, Infinity Ward has deployed a dedicated team from the start to deliver a new level of depth to multiplayer. Building on the hit Call of Duty 2 online experience, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s new multiplayer is set to provide the community an addictive and accessible experience to gamers of all levels.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is in development for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows® PC. The title is scheduled for release this fall and has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
