EMS-final, Fnatic vs. SPEED-LINK

Ikväll (9/7) är det dags för ESL Major Series - Säsong 2 att avgöras. I finalen finner vi lyckligtvis svenska Fnatic som får ta sig an den tyska maskinen SPEED-LINK. I vad som kan komma att bli en riktigt riktigt bra match har dock inte kartorna bestämts utan detta avgörs genom ett s.k. "veto-val".

Matchen börjar 20:00 svensk och sänds live hos QuadV med Deman i etern.

mintR innan matchen:

Finals time, here we are again, once again throught the way of the lower brackets. But all of that is behind us. Speed Link has absolutely proved themselves this season and are worthy finalists. We met them once in the group stage and the result was a tie, they have shown perfect form throughout these last few weeks and will be a very hard opposition. This being ESL it will be like playing SL on their home turf. fnatic are looking forward to an awesome game!

Fnatic - CGS-mästare!

Efter en trög start på CGS CoD4-turnering gick Fnatic från klarhet till klarhet. Efter en jämn Consolation Final där man vann över Team Wizards var man tvingade som brukligt att inte förlora 1 karta i Grand Final där Team Dignitas stod för motståndet.

Finalen spelades på mp_citystreets (13-5) och mp_strike (13-9) och det hela har gjort våra svenskar £2,500 rikare.

Kapten mintR i Fnatic har inför sommarens alla offline-events blivit intervjuad av Inferno eSports. Intervjun i sig är väldigt matnyttig och täcker både "inför sommaren" samt en del om CoD4:as framtid, så vill ni ha lite trevlig läsning så här på sena måndags-eftermiddan så passa på att läsa denna.

Q: Call of Duty 4 has a lot of player that come from some other games such as Enemy Territory, Counterstrike and so on. Why? Do you think that they have some advantages or disadvantages against a player that come from Call of Duty 2?

fnatic\mintR: I think CoD4 had really great timing when it was released, CoD2 had opened a lot of eyes with people in other games and this really hyped up game delivered what it promised to a lot of people out there who maybe were a little tired of their old games, fast paced lots of action and easy to pick up but that can still be a game where there is a higher level of skill to reach for. Also it plays a little bit different from the most games we have seen so far. As for players coming into CoD4 from CoD2 or from any other game, the lean could be an issue and perhaps the aiming a little for some people but all in all I’d say it’s a very easy game to pick up. Not in a way that the game is too easy, it’s not as easy as just being able to kill in a match situation. I think if you want to become really good at this game, you can and then what it comes down to is individual skill and smarts, not if you have played the previous game or not.

Q: In Call of Duty 4 we saw that there are a lot of new faces or some players that in the past weren’t so good. A lot of people say that in this game the team play and the tactics are more important than the aim. What you think about it?

fnatic\mintR: The aim is still very important but it’s a different kind of aiming, in this game you won’t see a lot of single fire headshots like in CS, it’s more like something you could compare to the tracking of say a "lightnig-gun" in quake or anything similar to that. Also a lot of the players who emerge who weren’t good before might just have needed some time to grow up, reach an age where they still have the speed of a young player but with a little more experience and brain activity. Tactics are important and so is aim but most importantly I’d say is the ability to counter the opponent, to adjust to little things you catch them doing and turn the situation into an advantage on your behalf and with the pace of this game this needs to happen really fast.

Q: Finally, we see that CoD4 is growing and growing and there are a lot of new events like AEF (with 30000€ just for Call of Duty). Do you think that in the future Call of Duty can try to get the place that is now for CS 1.6? In your opinion there will be an Extreme Master just for CoD4?

fnatic\mintR:I saw they just raised the prices on AEF and yes this is great for CoD4, more publicity and people realizing this game might be worth taking a look at. I’m still a skeptic about the big tournaments when it comes to CoD4 because even if they have been looking at it it’s really hard to knock down CS at the moment, I guess with CoD6 coming out, probably in one or two years we would have a much bigger shot at it. Call of Duty could very well be suitable for the big tournaments and I hope it will be there but whether it will be for CoD4 or 6 is another question, CGS would be a perfect launch pad for CoD onto the big events, how ever I don’t know what will happen to CoD4 in the nearest future and I guess the big tournaments have already decided on what games they will support for this season so we will have to wait and see.

Att allas vår mintR gillar att blogga har väl knappast undgått någon. Nu är han tillbaka med ytterligare ett blogginlägg på Fnatic.com, denna gången handlar det om sommaren och vad som komma skall för våra svenska vikingar som skall på europa-turné, här närmast snackar vi Birmingham och CGS CoD4-turnering.

Next week the CoD4 team is on the move again and I'm starting to feel the excitement coming back after what seems an eternity of boring online competition. So where are we going? We are headed to Birmingham, UK for the CGS EU/UK qualifiers. No you are absolutely right, the CGS does not have CoD4 as one of their games. Maybe this is to see what they can expect from running a game like this, I don't know but it will be a lot of fun playing again. We will be in the Omega Sektor competing for £10000.

Idag (9/5) fyller även mintR 26 år, så ett stort grattis på födelsedagen grabben! Hipp hipp..!

Fnatic i L2W-final - VOD släppt **

Ikväll (27/4) får vi äntligen se vilka som får stå som mästare efter första säsongen av L2W. Med i finalen finner vi våra svenska hjältar i Fnatic, som tagit sig dit genom loserbracket. Från winnerbracket har vi Revolution och att de lyckats ta sig enda dit var åtminstonde för mig en överaskning.

Detta blir även zslits sista match i Fnatic och självklart får vi väl hoppas på att han får sluta på topp och som L2W-mästare. Som vanligt när det gäller double-elimination så behöver Revolution endast vinna 1 karta (eftersom man kommer från winnerbracket) medans Fnatic måste vinna 2. Kartan som spelas först väljs av Revolution (och blir officiell 1 timme innan matchstart), 2:a kartan, som är vald av L2W-admins, är mp_backlot.

Matchen börjar 21:00 (svensk tid) och visas LIVE hos QuadV.com TV1 med Deman i etern.

*UPPDATERING*
Fnatic förlorade matchen efter 2 mycket jämna kartor. På mp_backlot (som var den 2:a kartan) såg det mycket bra ut för svenskarna som tog hela 5 rundor som attackerande. Dessvärre verkade man inte klara av trycket utan man gjorde troligtvis en av sina sämre försvarsrundor någonsin vilket att man till slut förlorade överaskande med 13-11. Taskig timing! Grattis i vilket fall som helst till en 2:a plats i L2W, även om jag nog är tveksam om de kommer vara nöjda med det efter dagens match.

Fragfilm: fnatic\mintR - Jagged Edge

Sveriges näst bäste Martin, Fnatics superstar mintR har nu då äntligen släppt sin första fragfilm - Jagged Edge. Självklart så är detta en av de bättre fragfilmerna som släppts hittills - om inte den bästa. Klart är i alla fall att mintR är minst lika bra med din Deagle som han är med sitt gevär, fast det var väl kanske ingen nyhet? Bra musik, mycket action, bra redigering och synkning. Älskar förövrigt när man klipper in shoutcasters precis som man gjort i denna, det enda jag tyckte vart lite knasigt är att rösten ligger före bilden så att säga - medvetet eller en miss?
